If the cable connection dies due to a Comcast outage, the calls immediately forward to my cell. The caller-id, call waiting, voicemail features are excellent. I used to pay about $65 per month for a standard unlimited local/toll calling plan. Much of that was taxes and FCC regulatory fees, etc.

FWIW, I've kept my dial-up ISP, just in case the Comcast cable goes out. It did once for a week while @home was doing it, but since @home went down the tubes and Comcast rolled their own I've only had one outage, and that was a matter of a few hours after a flood. Their cable TV service was out too.
